Discraft 2008 Ace Race results from 08/03/08, sponsored by the Knitting Knight

This year at the 2008 Ace Race, we had 36 participants. The Ace Race is a disc golf event in which only one throw per hole is allowed, and is scored with an A for a hole-in-one or an M for a metal shot (any part of the basket or chains), two rounds of 18 holes. Most holes were shortened to less than 180 feet. This year we had two aces and nine metal shots. A playoff hole was needed to determine the winner between the two acers, Lane Sowers (aced hole #3) and Tara Gangruth (aced hole #16). Lane and Tara, and an enthusiastic gallery, proceeded to hole # 1 for a closest to the pin tie-breaker. Lane edged out Tara by about a half a foot to win the grand prize of a bag and 10 premium discs (valued over $ 200). Other honerable mentions (metal shots) were Eric Torgerson (hit metal on holes 11 and 1), Josh Black (hole 4), Neil Bergstedt (hole 3), Bruce Hively (hole 3), Philip Bates (hole 2), Mike Fetzik (hole 1), Shawn Opacich (hole 6), and Shaun Schaefer (hole 1). All players received two discs, a hat, and a mini marker in the player's package.
